Vybz Kartel denied bail by Judge

Dancehall artiste Adidja Palmer also known as Vybz Kartel was denied bail by Justice Glen Brown yesterday Friday February, 15, 2013 after being in custody since September 2011.

An application for bail was made by Kartel’s lawyer, Valerie Neita Robertson issued last friday and ruled on yesterday.

Valerie Neita Robertson has been representing Kartel in the murder case involving Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams made the application.

It is expected that the Home Circuit Court will commence trial on May 27th 2013, when Kartel and the rest of the co-accused are to return to the court.

Joan Barnett the prosecutor had given opposition to the application on the grounds that the prosecution have a strong case against him.

Kartel is charged jointly with Shawn Campbell a fellow entertainer , aka ‘Shawn Storm’ as-well as Andre St John, Kahira Jones, Shane Williams and Calvin Haye.

Although Kartel was granted bail in the Barrington ‘Bossy’ Burton case, he cannot take up the offer as a result of the Williams trial.

Claims by the prosecution are that Williams was murdered at Kartel’s home in Havendale, St Andrew, on August 16, 2011.

Williams and another man were reportedly taken to the entertainer’s house to account for a lost firearm.

Williams’ body has not been found.
